VISITING SABBATICAL POSITION – AUGUST 2003 –
JULY 2004
The Department of Nursing Education of the University of Botswana is seeking to appoint a visiting sabbatical scholar to join the Department from August 1st 2003 until July 31st 2004. The University offers a stipend at a point on the academic staff scale related to qualifications, university teaching experience and current rank, and provides assistance to obtain accommodation.
The Department is part of the Faculty of Education and has 18 academic staff. It offers training programmes in nursing science at Bachelor’s and Masters level. The staff are involved in active research programmes in such areas as home based care, HIV/AIDS, pregnant women in prison, self-care and symptom management. Staff are also involved in a wide variety of service activities with government departments and civil society organisations. The Department is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre WHOCC) and has its mandate as research and development of models of home care.
The sabbatical scholar should have a minimum of a masters’ degree in nursing and would be expected to teach, to contribute to on-going curriculum development and research activities, and to share in the academic life of the Department. Proposals for collaborative research are also encouraged.
