Process for the Awarding of a Congress
1. The Board of Management will review all applications which
are received at headquarters by the closing date as stated on the application
paper.
2. The Board of Management will seek additional information if
this is deemed necessary.
3. An analysis of each submission will be circulated with
Council papers to each Member Association.
4. Recommendation by the Board of Management will be made to
Council.
5. Time for considering the
bids will be identified on the Council Agenda.
Criteria for awarding the hosting of Congress based on the information
provided:

Demonstration
of previous Safe Motherhood activity
Ψ
Indication
of supporting the Mission and Aims of the Confederation with the potential to
expand and strengthen midwifery in their own country and region

The venue
and hotels have been investigated and have the capacity and ability of
accommodating the Congress and supporting meetings

Substantial
evidence of the ability to finance a Congress and associated activities *

Application
to host the 28th International Congress in 2008
(Constitution
paragraph 4)
(ii)d hold International Congresses of
midwives which may be on a local, regional or world-wide basis; and to
encourage the international exchange of midwifery research, educational
curricula and practice.

principle, Congress should rotate to the different regions of the
