Welcome to the website of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). The ICM's global strategy is reflected in both its mission and its goals. Behind the ICM's mission lies its vision of empowering women and empowering midwives. The ICM envisions a world where women's roles are significantly different from those experienced today, and where midwives play a significant role in the empowerment of women.
ICM has initiated a Research Standing Committee to strengthen the development of midwifery research.

The International Confederation of Midwives
will advance worldwide the aims and aspirations

for women in their childbearing years, their newborn,
and their families wherever they reside.

ICM, along with the international bodies representing physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and dentists, has called on governments to find non-violent means to resolve conflict and bring about peace.
