Research Standing Committee

Current activities

Current activities of the Committee fall into three categories:

1.    Creating communication networks between researchers working in reproductive health and midwifery;

2.    Creating a database of researchers that will act as a source of information and support;

3.    Planning and facilitating the next ICM congress research workshops.

Communication networks:

A midwifery discussion list has been established to provide an open forum for discussion on issues relating to research on midwifery and reproductive health. The list aims to create a international network of people who are eager to share information (e.g. workshops, seminars, conferences and new research) and to promote links, collaborative working, joint problem-solving and mutual support. For information on how to join the mailbase click here.

Other channels of communication are being explored.

Creating a database of researchers:

The means of establishing such a database and the data to be collected are currently under discussion. It is hoped that the database will be accessible via these pages. Further information will appear on this site and on the mailbase in the near future.

Planning the next ICM congress research workshop:

Suggests for the next ICM congress research workshop were received from participants in Manila. These are being considered and will guide the planning for the next congress workshop.
